Descripción
In this talk, I'll explore how technology can play a crucial role in revitalizing endangered languages by sharing my personal journey of using tech to support Galician, the native language of Galicia in northwest Spain. Despite its rich tradition and official status, Galician faces challenges from declining usage. Revitalizing Galician is essential for preserving the region's unique identity and promoting linguistic diversity, ensuring the language can thrive in modern contexts and remain accessible. After gaining extensive experience in streaming technology, I decided to apply my expertise to build the first streaming guide dedicated to helping users find content in Galician. In this talk, I'll delve into how this idea came to fruition, starting with the initial concept and the UX research, and moving through the development stages. Finally, I'll share feedback and impressions from our users.
